Energy Balance

How many calories do you need to consume every day? Unfortunately, that depends on an infinite number of variables. If you’re trying to lose weight you want to be in an energy deficit meaning you burn more calories than you consume.

If you’re trying to gain weight or more specifically gain muscle, you need to consume more calories than what you burn in addition to weight training. If you’ve achieved your ideal weight, then you need to be in an energy balance consuming roughly the same amount of calories that you burn.
